Tim studied music at Oxford University and conducted several college choral societies
and the Oxford Sinfonietta. In his home town of Bournemouth, Tim became the conductor
of the orchestra of Gli Amici Delia Musica in 1983. Tim has been the conductor of
the Bournemouth Bach Choir since 1992. Tim was also a member of the Bournemouth Symphony
Chorus for ten years whilst he was a music master at Canford School. 
In 1997, he became a freelance conductor and pianist. He has worked with the London Philharmonic Chorus, London Symphony Chorus and Bournemouth Symphony Chorus; with Ludmilla Andrew and with Philip Langridge at the Royal Academy of Music; and as a conductor with Dorset Youth Orchestra and the Goldsmiths Sinfonia and Chorus.
Tim was the Musical Director of Grange Choral Society from 1988 to 2001. In October 2000, Tim formed Christchurch Sinfonia. Tim is also Musical Director of the Hutton and Shenfield Choral Society. Tim conducted the combined societies of Cambridge Philharmonic and Ely Choral at the Cambridge Festival in Ely Cathedral.
