Tim studied music at Ox­ford University, where he was Organ Scholar at St Edmund Hall. He was also the conductor of several college choral societies and the Oxford Sinfonietta.

In his home town of Bournemouth, Tim became the conductor of the or­chestra of Gli Amici Delia Musica in 1983, performing works such as Shostakovich Symphonies 5 & 10 and Mahler Symphony No.5. For Gli Amici's 25th Anniversary Reunion Concert, Tim was invited as guest conductor to perform Mahler's Sym­phony No.2 Resurrection in the Winter Gardens.

 

Tim has been the conductor of the Bournemouth Bach Choir since 1992, and with them has given many highly acclaimed performances. Tim was also a member of the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus for ten years whilst he was a music master at Canford School.

 

In the summer of 1997, he became a freelance conductor and pianist. He has worked with the London Philharmonic Chorus, London Sym­phony Chorus and Bournemouth Symphony Chorus; as an accom­panist for opera coaching sessions with Ludmilla Andrew and for a master class with Philip Langridge at the Royal Academy of Music; and as a conductor with Dorset Youth Orchestra and the Gold­smiths Sinfonia and Chorus, with whom performances have included Tippet A Child of Our Time, Beetho­ven Symphony No.9 Choral, Si­belius Symphonies 1 & 3, Orff Carmina Burana as well as Mozart Requiem and Saint-Saens Organ Symphony in Southwark Cathedral.

 

Locally, Tim was the Musical Direc­tor of Grange Choral Society, Christchurch from 1998 until Sep­tember 2001. With them he gave performances of large-scale choral works, including Elgar Dream of Gerontius with Neil Jenkins, Walton Belshazzar's Feast in the Winter Gardens and Verdi Requiem for the Grange's 40th Anniversary Concert. In October 2000, Tim formed Christchurch Sinfonia, a profes­sional freelance chamber orchestra which has since given a number of performances in Christchurch Pri­ory, Sherborne Abbey and St Alban's Abbey.

 

Tim is also Musical Director of the Hutton and Shenfield Choral Society (based in Brentwood, Essex); works he has performed with them include Elgar The Kingdom and Britten War Requiem, as well as their annual Christmas Concert to audiences of 1200.  Most recently, Tim conducted the combined societies of Cambridge Philharmonic and Ely Choral in a per­formance of Ellington's Sacred Music as the final concert at the Cambridge Festival in Ely Cathedral.
